I know of a good man
Simple and unrefined
Who redefines the adage
That Love is truly blind

This man taught me everything
All the good things I know
He taught honor and integrity
Where strength and courage grow

He cared for me and loved me
Without a second thought
Despite mistakes committed
Cold words that anger brought

Eloquence was not a forte
A man whose words are few
But leading by example
Is the school that holds so true

Determination stood unwavering
This simple man I know
Whatever storms life threw him
He stood fast, and let them blow

Unrelenting in his purpose
To protect, and care and love
The strength of a valiant warrior
Hiding wings of a gentle dove

I can’t fathom the courage
This man must have inside
To ford alone in such rough waters
Strength prevails where wisdom guides

An amazing story teller
A man of strength untold
A singer of sweet lullabies
An adventurer true and bold

My dream is that perhaps one day
And I truly hope I can
Stand up to maybe knee height
Of this amazing simple man
